Los Cantantes del Lago will be holding its final three concerts in December. Timothy G. Ruff Welch, music director, has announced his retirement and his last concert with them will be on 11 December.
Several of the singers have been and currently are from Chapala Haciendas.
Welch has been the director of the local choir for 21 years. He became the director in 2001. Since then the group has sung 42 seasons as well as done national and international tours to Greece, Turkey, Cuba, Ecuador, Central Mexico, and Canada. Thousands of Lakesiders have enjoyed or sung in the concerts over the last score of years.
The board of directors of the organization has decided to “turn the lights off” after this season. They are making room for anyone else at Lakeside that would like to form a community choir.
